Grayland Hospital Genset Fuel Tank Replacement

North Metropolitan Health Services (NMHS) awarded ME Services to undertake Genset fuel tank replacement.

Scope of Works:

Stage 1 – Install New Storage Tank
a. Preparation of level area for tank.
b. Relocation of tank from current location to adjacent Genset Building. Refer to photos 2 & 3.
c. Internal cleaning and visual inspection of tank.
d. Rust removal and surface treatment of affected areas on top of tank, with particular attention to manways and flanges.
e. Battery replacement and testing of Bintech level switch.
f. Removal of surplus or redundant cables.
g. Fitment of supplied vent stack.
h. Supply and installation of DN40 stainless steel pipework and supports from tank suction port to existing pumps. Low level pipe from tank to generator building to be protected from impact.
i. Existing pumps are a duty/stand-by Ebsray Z580 internal gear pumps. Contractor to supply and install DN40 Stainless Steel non-return valve at both pump suctions

Stage 2 – Removal of existing 12kL underground tank
a. Undertake pump out of existing remaining product into site holding tank. The aim is to use the new 12 kL storage tank to transfer the product into, after the new tank has been positioned, cleaned and inspected.
b. Complete underground services survey to confirm area is clear of services.
c. The removal and disposal of tank top, 2.4m x 1.3m concrete covering.
d. Excavation to tank top and disconnection and removal of dip/fill riser, vent line and existing pump supply and return lines.
e. Stockpiling of tank top material adjacent excavation for future re-use.
f. Removal and disposal of tank in accordance with AS 4976-2008 (The removal and disposal of underground petroleum storage tanks).
g. Backfill and compaction of excavation with certified clean fill.
